Headaches are so common that many people try to just live with them, but the burden of headaches is serious, for individuals and for the economy as a whole. In fact, headaches rank highly on the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Burden of Disease Study. Migraine on its own was ranked sixth highest in terms of years lost to disability. Headaches jointly ranked third.
But despite the burden of headaches, the science is far behind–50 years behind, according to some doctors. And so many people end up with headaches that go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. And even if they are diagnosed, many people get ineffective treatment for their headaches.
At the Michigan Center for TMJ & Sleep Wellness, we are working to change that. We strive to help people get a proper diagnosis for their headaches, and find them effective treatments that they won’t find elsewhere. Drug-free treatments that address under-diagnosed causes and triggers of headaches.
